Ric Flair Willing To Walk Away From AEW
Controversial AEW hiring Ric Flair says he'd be willing to leave AEW, IF...
Ric Flair has claimed he would be willing to walk away from AEW if he is embarrassing Tony Khan and his wrestling promotion.
'The Nature Boy' posted as much to X and Instagram on Thursday, stating that he was "tired of hearing all this negativity." Claiming that he "doesn't need the money", Flair stated he was in AEW to support his friend Sting on his retirement tour - and added that he has "earned the right to do whatever I want."
I Am So Tired Of Hearing All This Negativity! I Don’t Need To Work, And I Don’t Need The Money. Can’t I Simply Enjoy Being By My Dear Friend @Sting’s Side For The Next Few Months Without So Much Hatred? I Know I’m Old, But That Doesn’t Mean I Can’t Enjoy Life! I Have Earned The Right To Do Whatever I Want & I’m Exactly Where I Want To Be! I Appreciate Everything @TonyKhan, But I’m More Than Willing To Walk Away If I Am Embarrassing You And Your Company. All I Can Say Is I’m Sorry!
AEW announced Flair as a controversial signing in October 2023, attracting backlash for making an agreement with a wrestling legend who has been the subject of multiple sexual misconduct allegations throughout his career. That this came mere days after Khan had tweeted criticising WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon's allegations worsened the optics.
This week, Flair attracted controversy for dropping this line during Wednesday's AEW Rampage tapings:
