10 More Hardest To Watch Horror Movie Moments

9. The Final Flashback - The Tortured (2010)

A distraught and heartbroken couple (Erika Christensen and Jesse Metcalfe) hatch a bitter and twisted plan to exact vengeance upon serial killer John Kozlowski (Bill Moseley), the man who kidnapped, tortured and murdered their son. They hijack the prison van he's being transported in, and promptly crash it, before getting things back on track and taking their new captive to an abandoned cabin where they can work on him in peace.

As the title and premise suggest, The Tortured is torture porn at its very worst, and while there are many truly shocking and hard to watch scenes throughout -- knives, drills, syringes, gas masks; the lot -- the hardest of all is actually one where no acts of violence are committed.

Towards the end of the film, after the couple have done everything within their power to disfigure and torment an apparently amnesiac killer, a flashback reveals that there were two men being transported in the prison van the day of their hijacking, and it is the other man, Patrick Galligan (Bill Lippincott), serving time for tax evasion, who they kidnapped. Our blood runs cold, our brain tells us to look away, but nothing can undo this, the worst of every horror we've just witnessed.
