At the much-fabled Woodstock festival in 1969, a relatively unknown band named Santana took to the stage and wowed everyone with their fusion of rock 'n' roll and classic Latin sounds, as well as the technical wizardry of namesake guitarist, Carlos Santana.

After two number one records in 1970 and 1971 respectively, the band fell off the map for several decades, before finally roaring back into life in the late 90s.

Santana put out Supernatural in June of 1999 and it completely revitalised their career. The band shifted their style for this project, focusing on more modern radio-friendly rock, and by God, did it work.

Thanks to collaborations with Eric Clapton, Lauryn Hill, Cee-Lo Green, and Rob Thomas on the global sensation Smooth, Supernatural caught fire and rocketed to the top of the charts for a total of nine weeks. It became the second best-selling album in the US in all of 2000 and shifted a reported 30 million copies worldwide.

From an artistic standpoint, Supernatural isn't anything to shout about, but it is a whole lot of fun, and the story of Santana's return to the spotlight is just heart-warming.
