CM Punk is going to have to stay out of trouble for his WWE comeback run to go well.

PWInsider Elite reports that this is effectively a condition of his return, which kickstarted with a sensational Rosemont, IL appearance at Survivor Series 2023 this Saturday past (25 November).

WWE officials have stipulated that Punk's return to the market-leading promotion must be about making money, not causing problems backstage. The promotion sees the 45-year-old, whose comeback was carefully deliberated for a while, as a potential asset, though his history speaks for itself.

Punk and Paul 'Triple H' Levesque have seemingly moved past their issues, having cleared the air prior to Survivor Series. Prior to this, Punk had not been shy of publically criticising Levesque, whom he had fallen out with long before being fired by WWE on his wedding day in 2014.

Levesque, along with WWE President Nick Khan, is understood to have helped facilitate Punk's return.

The Survivor Series appearance came less than three months after AEW had fired Punk with cause, doing so following a backstage fight with Jack Perry. In 2022, Punk was suspended indefinitely after a well-publicised brawl with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, though he returned to AEW in June 2023.
