WWE Raw Star Apologises For Major Botch This Week

For a brief moment, things went wrong in this WWE Raw match on Monday.

Austin Theory has apologised to Mustafa Ali for being culpable in an unfortunate botch when the duo wrestled on this week's WWE Raw, reports Fightful Select.

Ali and Theory's United States Championship match momentarily came unglued when the duo fell to the mat from the top turnbuckle. It looked, at the time, like Mustafa was going for a Frankensteiner, though it was clear something had gone awry when they hit the deck awkwardly.

Fightful notes that the botch came about because Theory was supposed to hold onto Ali, block the Frankensteiner, and raise his US Title challenger up for a Powerbomb. Mustafa would have then countered this back into the Frankensteiner. This was where things went wrong.

Ali covered up for it by calling for the referee to check Theory after the fall, then hitting a satellite DDT, which wasn't originally planned. There was no heat of any kind between the two, however - and Theory was "very apologetic" backstage afterwards.

Theory has been United States Champion since Survivor Series 2022 (26 November), where he was triumphant over Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley in a Triple Threat bout.
