AEW will debut what sounds like a significant signing at Full Gear 2023 this weekend.

Company founder and CEO Tony Khan confirmed as much on X, referencing "one of the world's best wrestlers", who has already signed a deal with AEW:

AEW has agreed to terms with one of the world's best wrestlers, a pro who is known + respected by virtually every @AEW fan! They'll come to LA to sign their contract THIS SATURDAY 11/18 on ppv at #AEWFullGear!

Full Gear 2023 takes place at the KIA Forum in Inglewood, California, this Saturday (18 November).

Throughout AEW's lifespan, but particularly over the last year or so, Khan has attracted criticism for his "major announcements." The perception amongst critics is that the AEW chief has sometimes overpromised and underdelivered, the latest example being the "important announcement" scheduled for a recent Dynamite turning out to be All In 2024's ticket on-sale date.

Nonetheless, Khan's wording emphasises AEW familiarity ("respected by virtually every AEW fan") and ability ("one of the world's best wrestlers"), not global megastardom. Somebody like El Hijo del Vikingo would fit this terminology, though speculation will naturally move towards the likes of Mercedes Moné, who has long been linked with AEW.
