The Single Best Thing In Every Star Wars Movie
11. Attack Of The Clones: The Exquisite World Building
Attack of the Clones is quite arguably the most under-appreciated instalment of the series. However atrocious the love story between Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Padme (Natalie Portman) was and however flawed the overall writing might've been, Attack still gets quite a few things absolutely bang-on.
With higher stakes, a reasonably engaging plot, strong performances from Ewan McGregor and Christopher Lee and a ton of kick-ass action it comfortably improves upon its predecessor and best of all, there's one thing it does better than any other instalment: world-building.
Attack offers up an absolutely stunning array of beautifully-realised worlds - especially Coruscant, which is arguably the coolest planet in all of Star Wars - and the film is positively overflowing with gorgeous imagery.
Better still, the film does a fabulous job of fleshing out the political intricacies of the galaxy and unlike its predecessor, it actually makes the politics of the Galactic Republic pretty interesting.
Much like the other two prequels, Attack is full of issues but it's still a rock-solid film all the same, and if nothing else it offers a ton of beautiful visuals and an irresistible expansion of one of the very best fictional universes ever created.
