Ranking Every AEW Championship Reign Of 2023

25. Rey Fenix & Jon Moxley - AEW International Championship

Orange Cassidy International
AEW

This low ranking is a total victim of circumstance. And, with 37 days between them, these unfortunate champs may as well be paired together.

Moxley's reign-ending victory over Cassidy was all part of a longer play to set the two up for a clash at Full Gear a few months later. However, during the AEW Grand Slam International title defence against challenger Rey Fenix, Mox sustained a concussion and called an audible. Fenix securing his first solo title win in AEW could've been exciting if the finish wasn't confusing and, as good ol' JR would put it, "bowling shoe ugly".

But unknown to Moxley and his quick-thinking in the face of his injury, Fenix was also banged up. As such, the refreshing potential of a cruiserweight with the title was squashed by elements out of AEW's control. Fenix dropped the belt 20 days later to Cassidy so that, by the time Moxley was ready, the match would still go ahead just with a different man coming in as champion.
