Major WWE Stars On Expiring Deals Have NOT Received New Contract Offers
Latest on WWE and Endeavor's new policy on contract extensions for top talent.
The days of WWE offering contract extensions to wrestlers on expiring deals well in advance of their potential free-agency dates appear to be over - for now.
Fightful Select reports that WWE's renewal methods have changed. The company has a number of top wrestler contracts expiring in 2024, though several talents are yet to be approached for negotiations. The outlet notes, interestingly, that "WWE has top talent with expiring deals all throughout the year."
The market leaders reportedly signed dozens of five-year wrestler deals due to elapse in 2024 and some other shorter contracts.
Talents are of the belief that WWE's recent purchase by Endeavor, which closed in September, will kickstart contract talents. But while some are waiting to see what their offers look like, they haven't been extended yet. Per Fightful, WWE personnel have been speculating on how the Endeavor buyout will impact the situation, curious if this means offers will be higher, lower, or similar to pre-purchase contracts.
Amongst the wrestlers believed to be on expiring 2024 WWE contracts are Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, and Becky Lynch. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio this week that McIntyre is yet to agree an extension.
