Drew McIntyre WWE Status Update After CM Punk HEAT
Latest on Drew McIntyre after reports of CM Punk issues in WWE.
If it wasn't already clear from WWE's post-Survivor Series 2023 events, Dave Meltzer has clarified that Drew McIntyre's current status with the market-leading wrestling promotion is "fine."
McIntyre was reported to have "stormed to the back" and left the Allstate Arena following CM Punk's WWE return on Saturday's Survivor Series. Drew, who was legitimately "very upset", was believed to have been sparked by Punk and other, unknown situations.
In the Wrestling Observer's Daily Update, Meltzer writes that McIntyre was "fine" with WWE, as he worked a three-way live event main event in Peoria, Illinois the night after Survivor Series, There, he played a "smarmy face type role" in a three-way with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura.
McIntyre re-entered the World Heavyweight Title picture on last night's Raw, accosting Rollins in an in-ring segment. Towards the end, Seth announced he'd be defending his belt against Jey Uso on next week's Raw, leading, eventually, to Uso appearing, and the babyfaces clearing McIntyre from the ring.
Drew is understood to be working under an expiring WWE contract due to elapse prior to WrestleMania 40 in April. The two sides are yet to agree terms on an extension.
