Doctor Who: 10 Directions The Show Could Go In Next
What's next for Gallifrey's favourite child?
Doctor Who fans may have had a little while to digest the events of The Power of the Doctor, but there are still plenty of questions to be answered.
Why is Ten's face back? How do we get from him to Fifteen? How has it taken us this long to get a Doctor with a moustache? So many questions, so little time.
With a change in lead actor (and showrunner) looming, there's a buzz surrounding Doctor Who that the show has been missing for many years. David Tennant's return has brought back many a lapsed fan, and it'll be interesting to see what Russell T Davies can do to keep them watching, even after the Scotsman leaves the role.
Fortunately, this is a show with limitless potential, so he's bound to think of something good! And this time, the possibilities seem even more endless than usual.
Whether it's going back to the past for some more familiar faces, or taking the show into a brave new future, there are so many tantalising directions in which Doctor Who could go from here, and these are some of the most exciting...
10. More Davies-Era Comebacks
It didn't take long for Russell T Davies to re-stamp his authority on the show he brought back in 2005.
After the shocking reveal that David Tennant, the former Tenth Doctor, will be playing the Fourteenth Doctor as well, people are now thinking about which other popular characters from the show's past could also return to our screens.
We already know that some of Davies' previous creations will be returning to Who-land very soon. Former Tennant companion Donna Noble (played by Catherine Tate) has been confirmed, along with Jacqueline King as Donna's mum, and the legendary Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott. That will be a tough watch in light of Cribbins' death in July 2022.
If Davies is going to celebrate his past work with these characters, then it would be foolish to rule out more characters from the Eccleston/Tennant eras returning.
Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones would be a really nice touch, and would make sense considering UNIT's involvement in the 60th. Perhaps the cast of The Sarah Jane Adventures, to honour Elisabeth Sladen? Or maybe, just maybe... Rose Tyler?
You know you want to see it.
