In 2021, the licensed video game has all but dried up. Gone are the days when it was quick and easy to crank something out to tie in with a movie, or for the most part, any game that seeks to grab hungry fans from the silver screen over to a controller.

For the Alien IP specifically, in 2013 we had the debacle of Aliens: Colonial Marines, which seemed to almost singlehandedly put the series on ice, in the gaming space at least. Alien Isolation somehow snuck out there, but Colonial Marines left such a bad taste in everyone’s mouth, and led to so much legal trouble, it really did look like that was the end for the Xenomorph.

However, Aliens: Fireteam Elite seeks to change that, and right the wrongs from Gearbox all those years ago.
