A hell of a lot of footage from Marvel Cinematic Universe movies has ended up on the cutting room floor. Perhaps because of the agenda for massive scale, every single movie in the franchise had scenes filmed that didn't make it into the final version. Luckily for completists, they can generally be found on the blu-ray release, as studios capitalise on the audience's perpetual thirst for more new material. Avengers: Age of Ultron alone, for example, had nearly an hour's worth of footage cut from the theatrical release - including things like the weird-as-hell scene involving Thor, Erik Selvig and the mystical Norns, as well as Tom Hiddleston's cameo as Loki in Thor's Scarlet Witch-induced vision. In spite of the fact that several hours of cut footage exists from the twelve movies in the franchise to date, only a handful actually involve any combat - which is probably because the film-makers deem those scenes to be such important elements (the binary of good and evil inevitably means conflict). For this article, those deleted scenes that involve physical battles on various scales have been collated and ranked in order of how good they are. These are the eight best deleted combat scenes from MCU movies.
8. Thor Tells Loki Not To Kill (Thor: The Dark World)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6xUs-Tem6M There is a scene in Thor: The Dark World in which the titular hero breaks Loki out of the dungeons of Asgard, so that he can help him to gain access to Svartalfheim. On Odin's orders, a group of Asgardian guards attempt to stop the pair, and Thor tells Loki that they should avoid killing them as they prepare to fight them off. In the final version of the movie, Loki appears to comply, but in this deleted scene his anger gets the better of him and he is a mere swing of his arm away from ending a guard's life with a blade. Thor intervenes, grabbing Loki's arm before he can do any damage, and reminds him of the "no killing" instruction he had given him just moments before. Having Loki do this in the movie would have completely undermined his later "redemption" and subsequently made the movie's surprise ending (with him on the throne of Asgard) have less of an impact.
