2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Dec 1 - Results & Review)
Sting and Ric Flair on Rampage; AEW's messy main event; No Continental Classic?!
There was an over-reliance on multi-person matches throughout Rampage.
Tony Khan hurled no less than 26 wrestlers at fans across just four matches, which is a bit much. It sure didn't help that a good portion of those were workers on the lower end of the scale that fans haven't been given much of a reason to care about. The result? Lots and lots and lots of so so content.
Sting was in the house with Ric Flair too. Sadly, the iconic pair's segment fell a little flat on TV. This writer has no desire to see Flair wrestle again, but he isn't in the camp that's outright hating on Ric's involvement during this Sting retirement tour. It is somewhat ironic due to Flair's own aversion to actually staying retired though.
One of the strangest things about this week's Rampage is that the ongoing Continental Classic was barely touched on at all. Sure, AEW ran some ads for it, but there were no in-person promos or even matches that had any bearing on the tournament, and that was an odd choice.
Here's all the good and bad from a show that, if everyone's being brutally honest about it, is on life support heading into the new year.
