The story of a farmer slipping towards insanity, visualising everything from ghosts to an army of rats and carrying out some truly gruesome acts towards those closest to him, the film has a unique charm that keeps its viewers enthralled throughout. With only seven characters appearing throughout the film, Hilditch does a great job in stripping everything back and truly casting a vision of a man presiding over an entire country's worth of land, but slowly being broken apart by the desolate isolation that comes from it.

1922 currently holds an approval rating of 70/100 on Metacritic and a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, showcasing just how well received it has been by audiences since its release.
