10 Rock Stars That Almost Died On The Road
8. Alice Cooper
For all of tragedies in rock and roll, Alice Cooper has pretty much died more than any of us would be willing to admit. Bursting onto the scene as the originator of shock rock, Vincent Furnier's original outfit was the worst nightmare for any concerned parent who came to see them, from the horrific makeup to being killed via simulated hanging, guillotine, or just being stabbed with a gigantic needle. Alice always finds a way to come back though, but the situation looked a little bit hairy one night back in the '70s.
After the band had put their props through hell and back on one tour after the next, no one had really thought to check on some of the safety precautions that were going on towards the end of the show. When going through one of the effects during rehearsal, Alice had gone through the traditional hanging scene without a hitch, with a piano wire put in place to keep him steady so he wouldn't asphyxiate when he was actually in the gallows.
Once it hit showtime though, that piano wire finally gave out after years of wear, leaving Alice to think quickly and maneuver his way out of the gallows, claiming that the only reason he survived was for not having a big chin that would have actually caught the noose. As much as Alice's show is supposed to be a trip to the rock and roll circus half the time, no one is exactly showing up to a show like this to see an actual public execution either.
