10 Ridiculous Extra Superpowers That Were Phased Out Of The Comics

8. Archangel’s Healing Blood

The X-Men have a messy history both in comics and onscreen, but one particularly derided chapter came in the form of Chuck Austen’s 2002-2004 run on Uncanny X-Men. Austen’s series has been heavily criticised for wild, confounding writing decisions, from plot, to character, to relationships. Much of his work has been deemed downright inappropriate by X-fans, an oft-cited example being Archangel's mid-flight sex scene while his partner's mother stands on the ground below them.

In fact, it is Warren Worthington III, aka Angel aka Archangel, that faced the biggest power revamp in this run, and it was suitably contrived and illogical.

For a character mostly known for his powers of flight, granted by his feathered wings and avian physiology, the idea of a regenerative healing factor may seem out of place. Yet this was no ordinary healing factor, for Warren found himself able to heal others through blood transfusions. He then tested this new power at a nearby children’s hospital.

Archangel has been through a lot over his publication history, and this brief power is just one of many strange moments in his turbulent life.
