10 Music Videos That Could Be Horror Movies
9. Die Antwoord - I Fink U Freeky
The entire video is shot in black and grey
graininess, which plays to its most fully realised horror feature, the
environment - a dishevelled location covered in graffiti only waiting for
“Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter” to be scrawled on the walls. It appears to be
an asylum where the doctors not only have little control but are completely
absent.
The video is populated with males wearing just dirty underwear. They gurn out at the viewer. ¥o-Landi Vi$$er is shown in a bath, adding to her vulnerability. The horror of the video is difficult to explain. It's a very dance heavy video, however, body movements are never quite so unnerving as erratic dancing with no enjoyment.
The horror is more tangible in the shots of ¥o-Landi laying amongst live rats, doll heads, deflated sex dolls, and disembodied grasping arms, like a Warholian reinterpretation of Pulse’s movie poster.
Through the video ¥o-Landi becomes like the savage men around her, mimicking their Neanderthal-like behaviour. This corruption of a woman in a male dominated and horrific environment would serve well as a longer horror plot.
In a subtly dark scene, a young boy is seen with an
elephant trunk. Vigilant viewers will notice later in the video Ninja wears the
boy’s skinned head as a loin cloth. This brief scene alone is begging for
expansion.
