10 Most Disappointing Triple-A Games Of 2023

8. Forza Motorsport

Redfall was far from the only major letdown from Microsoft this year - even something as consistently terrific as their Forza franchise hit some unfortunate stumbling blocks.

The new Forza Motorsport certainly touts the pin-sharp visuals and tactile car handling fans expect, but as an overall package? It manages to feel both sterile and messy.

Even accepting that the Forza series' sim-based Motorsport entries have always felt a bit stodgy and Serious compared to the more free-wheeling Forza Horizon games, there's a distinct lack of personality in this year's effort.

What passes for a career mode here is a largely joyless slog, unaided by a sluggish progression system, while the driver AI stinks, and the online multiplayer's lack of drop-in racing means you're forced to spend an obscene amount of time just sitting around waiting.

Those playing on PC also have to deal with severe performance issues, including random crashes of the non-vehicular variety, ensuring that this once-reliable brand has taken a shocking ding to its rep.

All in all, this feels less like a game made by people who love cars than a most perfunctory corporate obligation.
