9. A Movie Within The Pixar Universe - Up

There is a popular theory, aptly known as the Pixar Theory, that states all movies from this studio exist within the same universe. Up is of course included, however a different theory suggests that Carl Fredrickson, Russell, and Dug were never actually real.

Instead, in a similar way to Lightyear being the movie that Andy saw when he was a kid, Up could have been a film that Riley from Inside Out watched. The theory is born out of one of Pixar's many easter eggs, dotted throughout all 27 outings released since Toy Story in 1995.

Within the many memory orbs of Riley's seen throughout Inside Out, one contains an image of Carl and Ellie's wedding from the opening scenes of Up. Since it's impossible for her to have witnessed the wedding herself, it would make sense that she saw this on a screen, the same way the rest of the world has.

In reality, this is just an easter egg that the majority of people will likely have missed, however if the theory does ring true it completely changes Up. Carl and Ellie's relationship, one of the most harrowing journeys in Pixar history, didn't happen in-universe. It was just a film.
