10 Horror Trailer Scenes That Were Cut From The Film

The trailers that lied...

No matter how good a horror film is, nobody is gonna see it unless the advertisements suck you in. So, to ensure the trailers leave an impact on the viewer, studios cram them with sinister dialogue, spooky money-shots, and heart-pounding jump-scares.

However, that doesn't mean everything you see in a teaser is guaranteed to be in the movie it's advertising. Some sequences are created purely for the trailer, even if there's no intention of putting them in the film in question. If a movie undergoes a drastic reshoot in late production, numerous shots from the previews might be scrapped. The director might decide the film would work better without certain scenes, even if they were used to sell the project. If the movie is a part of recognised property, certain elements in the promos may be tweaked or digitally removed to hide pivotal plot points.

We have seen this happen with trailers so many times, we need to accept that what you see is not always what you get. Nevertheless, you still feel cheated when you learn a really cool scene from the trailer didn't make it into the final cut.

10. We're Gonna Get You - Evil Dead

Because Evil Dead is Sam Raimi's most beloved work, many were expecting the 2013 remake to have a few nods to the cult-classic. But the remake didn't just have one or two references to Sam Raimi's directorial debut. Instead, it had an avalanche of callbacks, many of which were too subtle for even the most devoted fans to notice.

Mia wears a Michigan State sweatshirt, just like Ash did in the original film. The drawing of the Abomination is taken directly from The Evil Dead's poster art. Not only are many lines lifted directly from its predecessor, the reboot uses some of the same audio clips, including the line, "One by one, we will take you."

Even though most of these subtle references went over casual viewers' heads, there's one callback that everyone should've recognised. In the trailer, the demon playfully sings, "We're gonna get you", as an obvious nod to when Cheryl said the same line to Ash in the original Evil Dead.

Although this line was used in the trailer, it was left out of the theatrical release, much to the dismay of fans.
