10 Character Builds That Broke Recent Video Games

Bows, bodies and builds to break your favourite RPGs.

For as long as video games have been a thing, there have always been gamers out there hellbent on breaking them. By exploiting certain mechanics and harvesting particular skills and items, a player's experience can suddenly devolve into something very different to what might have been intended.

And who can blame them? After all, there are few things as satisfying as the smug feeling that comes from outsmarting all of a development team's hundreds of hours of work.

By utilising powerful weapons and items in combinations that may or may not have been envisaged by the creators, players have the ability to completely alter the way in which a game is played. Gruelling missions and sequences can become a breeze and big boss battles can be completed in just a couple of hits.

So let's once again celebrate the kinds of builds that completely dominate recent video games. The sorts of builds where players beeline straight to just a few skill points or items, stick with them, and cause absolute pandemonium from then on out.

10. Ida’s Sigil Sniper - Far Cry 6

Diablo 4
Ubisoft

With the ability to freely pick off enemies without them ever even seeing you, sniper builds always have the capability of being overpowered. And few games better demonstrate the power of the sniper build than Far Cry 6.

Ida’s Sigil is the definitive hero piece of gear behind this build. Obtained after clearing an early treasure location in the Madrugada region, this piece of hardware will naturally highlight enemies and animals surrounding them, even at nighttime. No more climbing towers and painstakingly scoping out an area.

Couple this with a weapon like the MBP .50, a ranged weapon that when maxed out is capable of shooting down helicopters and armoured personal vehicles on its own, and the potential of this build becomes obvious. With five attachment slots and two further mod slots, it is one of the most customisable scoped weapons in the game but even at its base level has a remarkable damage output and handling score, as well as a very respectable 43 RPM rate of fire.

It is also a weapon more easily obtained than most players would assume, only requiring your Guerilla Garrison to be upgraded to level 3, before you can buy from a storeman.
