9. Solo Sequels
One film that more and more fans are coming around on is Solo. With its likeable cast and enjoyable story, Solo: A Star Wars Story deserved to be a success. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
The film was a financial failure for Disney, bringing in $393.2 million at the box office, with a budget of nearly $275 million, once a bulk of the movie was reshot after directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired from the project. This box office flop was likely due to the film releasing only 5 months after the highly controversial Episode VIII, and a general fatigue of Star Wars setting in on cinema-goers.
Still, Solo has grown in popularity in the fandom, particularly in the aftermath of Disney's controversial sequels. The film was planned to be the start of a trilogy focusing on the scoundrel and the Wookiee before the events of A New Hope, but with the nightmarish production and disappointing box office numbers, Disney has since cancelled plans for the next entries. Hopefully, the Lando Disney+ series can pick up where Solo left off, and considering Donald Glover is set to return as the suave swindler, this is not out of the realm of possibility.
