10 Best Spider-Man Villains We've Yet To See In Movies

8. Alistair Smythe

Spider Man Hobgoblin
Marvel Comics

This is one of those characters that has technically been in a Spider-Man movie.

Alistair Smythe is played by B. J. Novak of The Office fame in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He's a scientist working at Oscorp, but he is not anything close to his comic book form.

In comics land, Alistair is the son of Spencer Smythe, an inventor who dedicated his entire life to eradicating Spider-Man through the use of murderous machines.

When his father dies, Alistair takes over control of his robots, which are also known as the Spider-Slayers. The Spider-Slayers have been around since the mid-1960s and have almost gotten the better of the webslinger on a number of occasions.

Spider-Man going up against an army of robots designed solely to kill him is a great story and one that would look fantastic with a big budget behind it.

Alistair is a better fit for the screen than his dad because he has the added element of fulfilling his dead father's legacy. This is a great motivation and would hopefully stop the character from being just "man who controls big robots".
